An Update, for Inquiring Minds

Yesterday we went to our Fertility Specialist for a consultation...AKA...how much money are we in for now? As it always goes with such appointments we felt very frustrated and overwhelmed with out "options". But there as some really hopeful news!

IVF (invitro) is the most desirable choice when it comes to actually getting pregnant. The percentage of a positive pregnancy with invitro as opposed to what we have been doing is significantly higher. I'm talking a major gap. With that higher success rate is an exceptionally heftier price tag. Again, I'm talking a MAJOR gap. Our doctor recommended a few more rounds of what we have been doing because with each round our success rate goes up (a fraction) but, it is affordable...to an extent. Anyway, we figured we would give it another go and also begin looking into invitro just so we know what to expect.

Well, invitro is expensive. Like...almost the price of a new car expensive. Like...a really nice down payment on a new home expensive. Just...expensive. So we got the low down on all of that and were feeling super deflated. Then, we inquired about the study that is currently taking place at our clinic. Basically, a study is being conducted to determine the effectiveness of two different medications in conjunction with IVF. If we qualify (fit the various requirements) we will enroll in this study and have one full IVF treatment for a VERY reduced cost. VERY reduced.

I nearly jumped for joy at this news! This ain't my first rodeo when it comes to medical studies folks! I am a living, breathing definition of medical study success!!! As Johny so endearingly addressed me yesterday, "a little lab rat". I'll take it!!! Anyway, we were ready to jump in! "Sign us up!".

Not so easy. First, we need to read a 30 page description of the study. Then, I need a blood test to determine if my various levels will qualify us for the study. Then, HOPEFULLY we will be good to go!!!

Of course invitro is no guarantee. But we really can't pass up this opportunity. Fingers crossed and keep on #prayingforbabyflores.

Summer 2016, be good to us.
