I Choose Happiness

If I was given the choice between a tomato and an avocado I would absolutely choose the avocado. Why? Because I despise tomatoes but really enjoy avocados. If someone gave me the option between living on coast or up in the mountains--I would pack my bags and head towards the trees in no time. I love the mountains, I can take the ocean only in small segments.

Every day we make decisions based upon what we desire. We choose what will make us happy. Starting with picking out our clothes for the day and what to have for breakfast, and ending with dinner and when we want to go to bed. Typically, it isn't difficult to choose. We already know what we want, for the most part. Sometimes we have to choose between to appealing options, or perhaps the lesser of two...but we usually end up walking away with whatever will make us most satisfied.

So here's what has me stumped. When we live each day choosing the things that will make our day most enjoyable, WHY is it so hard to simply...choose happiness?

Happiness vs. Sadness// Happiness vs. Anger//Happiness vs. Jealousy//Happiness vs. Contempt

As I type this I can't help but think of myself and the choices I have made when faced with these options in life. Most often for me, it seems, I usually do not choose happiness. So many times I have been overcome with anger or sadness. Especially recently. Why? I mean, I get why. Because life is hard. Because we aren't always dealt a fair hand. Because sometimes, sometimes we just have a bad freaking day! I get that. But wow...isn't it something to consider the options? Happiness is always there. It is a choice we have to make.

I'll be the first to say that this ain't easy! I'll also be the first to admit that I'd sure like to spend less time feeling the "icky-ness" of those other options and simply be happy. I'd like to end each day satisfied. I'd like to closeout each day happy. And all I have to do is choose it.

So I'm here-in front of whoever is reading this-saying, "I choose Happiness". I choose Happiness because it is such a better alternative than those other options, like tomatoes. Yuck. I choose Happiness because it is what I deserve. I choose it because it's what my husband deserves. I choose Happiness because happy people are beautiful people. I choose Happiness because happy people have more fun! I choose it because my heart needs to feel it. I choose Happiness because it's what life is all about. I choose Happiness because it's what I want. And how can I be happy if I don't choose it for myself?

I choose Happiness.

What do you choose?

:) Mo

  1. Today, I choose JOY! I am so thankful that my joy is not dependent on my circumstances, but always dependent on HIM!
